What is a MyWORLD account?
MyWORLD is an all-in-one banking solution that allows you to bank, share and save. Through its unique Power Pocket and Savings Pocket features, MyWORLD allows you to bring those closest to you into your world of banking.
The person who opens a MyWORLD account is known as the Primary Account Holder. The MyWORLD account comes with a Power Pocket and a Savings Pocket automatically linked, each with its own unique account number. You can have a total of 5 Pockets linked to your Primary account.
MyWORLD gives you up to six accounts for no monthly account fees. It also boasts SA’s lowest banking fees, SA’s best interest rate on any positive balance and SA’s best rate on any positive balance in both the Power and Savings Pockets.
What documents do you need for me to register?
To register for MyWORLD, all you need is an ID document.
What is a Power Pocket?
A Power Pocket is a separate account linked to your Primary MyWORLD account. It has its own unique account number.
The Power Pocket allows you to bring those closest to you into your world of banking. You can do so in two ways:
ADD A USER: As the Primary Account Holder, you can designate someone as a Power Pocket User. This person has the ability to manage the account online, using their online banking profile. They can also make payments, do transfers, deposit money and withdraw cash at any ATM or selected till points. The Power Pocket User will also receive a personalised card to handle their day-to-day transactions.
ADD A MEMBER: As the Primary Account Holder, you can designate someone as a Power Pocket Member. The Member can only view the Pocket via their online banking profile. They however cannot transact with the Power Pocket, except for making deposits.
Why does African Bank require access to phone calls/phone logs when updating the banking app?
The “Phone Calls” permission allows African Bank to identify mobile device specific data as part of our security process. At no point does the banking App attempt to make actual phone calls.
Why does African Bank require access to media storage when updating the banking app?
The “Media and Files (Storage)” permission is needed for bio-metric fingerprint login. In addition, we read images/files obtained from the device or create a document should a client wish to view a statement in PDF format.
